24 Jan Marjorie Russell
Marjorie Russell was born on a poultry farm in Lancashire UK. She is an ex-Junior/Primary teacher, mother of three and grandmother of three. Late in life she has taken up art as a hobby.
Marjorie began with a lead pencil on a scrap of paper. She soon realised she needed art lessons! Water colours with teachers Arthur Phillips (resident artist at the Turner Exhibition at Adelaide Art Gallery) and more recently Alan Ramachandran (prize winner and judge of many art shows) provided direction and motivation. She has since enjoyed working with water colours on Yupo paper and with charcoal.
For her charcoal creations, copies of her originals were taken, printed onto a sheet of limestone and then framed using recycled fence posts. A touch of watercolour was later added to some of them.
